Hi Guys,

I’m back! 😊

This month has not been as impactful with visits and events as last month, but we have had our fair share. We are totally blessed to say that financially so many of you have come through for us, and we are SO grateful as the past few months have been a real challenge! You know who you are, and may God bless you beyond your wildest imagination and expectation!

Let’s start with the birthdays – I am including birthdays for October and November in this Newsletter, seeing as I shall be sharing the birthdays for December and January in next month’s

Beginning with the children, we have Giffie turning 18 on the 18th November, Kingston will be 16 on the 7th November, staff child David will be 15 on the 14th November.

With our elderly and staff, we have Debbie turning 66 on 10th November, our dear Heidi will be 82 on 28th October and Alan, our newest member and a firebrand when it comes to working will be 71 on the 18th November. Agnes, housemother at Camelia House will be 38 on 14th October, Ethel – housemother at David House will be turning 38 as well, on the 12th October. Nizaam, one of our McGyver’s will be 40 on the 3rd October and Nick, driver and mechanic, will be 68 on 2nd October. Our newest fundraiser, Charmaine, will be turning 51 on the 26th October. That’s the birthdays done and dusted!

A few of our children and Ethel, housemother at the children’s home, went all out on Heritage Day and really dressed the part 😊

Our children will be going on two camps with different organizations and to this end, we will be needing approximately R2,750 to ensure their participation.

One adventure is being hosted by a well-known organization who mentors boys, and the other is with the church that they attend.

Soccer season is coming to an end, but our boys are practising constantly!

All our children are very busy preparing for exams right now 😊

One of the organizations who treat our kids are organizing a hike and picnic, a pop-up holiday club for 3 days and, once again, our girls were pampered with manicures and pedicures:

Some of our children were blessed to receive reading glasses 😊

I must make a special mention of Giffie, who left a special school to complete his matric in a mainstream school. He has adapted especially well and is going from strength to strength. He is even playing rugby lol!

We have been blessed with volunteers who are doing their practical in their psychology training at our homes and the kids are really enjoying the games and talks these volunteers entertain them with.

Our boy, David, who has spread his wings and is now being trained in the hospitality industry, has not given up his dream of becoming a well-known vocalist and is posting his songs, written by him, on YouTube. I am, personally, SO impressed with this young man and wish him everything God has for him.

Our Urban Farming project has started at our new premises, and together with SOJO Helping Hands Foundation and many others, we are preparing a vast portion of the garden for planting vegetables. The ground has been cleared and is now in the process of being prepared to planting:

However, we must express our sincere condolences to SOJO and the family of the Chairman of SOJO Helping Hands Foundation!! Richard Bennet passed away shortly after the opening ceremony of our farming project and this is a huge blow to all! He called himself a visionary, and the ideas he proposed were truly visionary!

We are overjoyed to share that we have been blessed with solar panels at our homes. The children and elderly are so happy about this.

When we purchased the new property, we saw that there was a pool and thought how much the children would love this in summer. However, besides being huge and taking too much water (which we are hard pressed to afford), the swimming pool has numerous leaks!! Richard Bennet, mentioned above, suggested converting it to a rock pool that would be eco-friendly, with either salt or fresh water. If there is anyone out there who could possibly advise us on this conversion, we would humbly and joyously welcome it 😊

One of our precious donors had gone to view the annual blooming of flowers  in the Western Cape and sent us the following pictures so that we could share in the joy of Spring coming.

Well, Friends, that’s it for the month of September. May you all find joy in the new season, may the sun follow you wherever you go and may the love of God enfold you, may the light of God surround you, may the power of God protect you and may the presence of God watch over you. And may God’s  richest blessings fall upon each heart that shows kindness.

Much love, Resthaven Fundraisers
