MARCH 2023 NEWSLETTER

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all had an amazing month of March despite load shedding and shutdowns? What an enormous pleasure it was this weekend with no power outages!

We don’t have a single birthday among our children, seniors or staff during the month of April! But we are asking if you all would be able to assist by sending in old, used reading glasses please? We would be using the frames to be fitted for our kids and elderly. We are also in dire need of gently worn men’s shoes! We are often blessed with clothing for our children and elderly ladies, but very rarely for the guys!

It is almost Easter where some of us rejoice in easter eggs and hot cross buns, and others are more serious about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. A lot of people will be going away for Easter and we wish you safe travels and a thoroughly enjoyable break!

Talking about breaks, we are planning to take our seniors on a mid-week break to Warmbaths / Bela Bela. For some of our oldies this would be a first to that part of the country, for others it would possibly their last holiday ever. If you are able to contribute towards this event for our seniors, it would be profoundly appreciated!!!

Another bit of a getaway is for Neil, our CEO together with JohnJohn, one of our twins at the home for children. Neil is taking him to Operation Mobilisation from 26th March – April 1st.  This is a training centre for ministry.

You know, I have always said the Newsletters are only to let you all know what is happening in our homes and with our staff, but this month I am going all out with requests for assistance as we have big things planned!

We also need sponsorship for one of our kids to go to the Kruger National Park. Here we require a R250-00 deposit, for the total amount of R1,250-00. The people organizing this take one child twice a year to be treated at the game park, and these experiences are invaluable to our kids 😊

We have another big project where we need to upgrade more rooms for the elderly as we constantly receive requests for accommodation. To that end, we have some extra rooms at our head office, New Life Centre but we need to upgrade to include bathing facilities, if there are any companies out there that can install showers, toilets – someone that can lift the carpet tiles and sand and varnish our wooden floors, put tiling down on the areas that do not have wooden floors and give the new rooms a coat of paint. We also need 5 single beds, cupboards for their clothing, linen and blankets/duvets for 5 people. This would serve as a semi-frail centre.

Martin still does not have a matric blazer and the cost of this is R800-00.

Looking forward our matric boys will have to start preparing for their matric farewells. Here we will be looking at proper outfits and, of course, their entry fees.

Oh my word, I have been going on, haven’t I? I am so sorry to overwhelm you all with our needs this month!! Caring for our residents is truly an ongoing challenge, and quite honestly, we just cannot do it all without your help!!

I do have some sad news, our Leon passed away very suddenly on Saturday night and we pass our heartfelt condolences to his family

We did receive brand new comforters for all our seniors and children by a very generous foundation and may God bless them for their benevolence. The oldies and kids absolutely LOVED their new bedding and it was received with huge, bright smiles!!

Well, that’s us for this month 😊 I truly apologize for being needy this month and I, personally, have always believed in assisting the needy and not the greedy LOL!! Our ability to raise funds for this very worthy cause, by the Grace of God, has always been our joy and our way of paying it forward!

Wishing you all an amazing God-filled Easter weekend, safe travels and lots of chocolate easter eggs!!!

With love,
