Big hello to all Resthaven’s Friends 😊
When it comes to this time of the year, it seems that time just absolutely flies by!! Can you believe it’s 8 weeks and a bit before Christmas?? This is the time we, as fundraisers for Resthaven, work the hardest! Lol!! We have to ensure that our children and elderly, as well as our soup kitchens suffer no lack when the rest of us take a break, and hopefully even get away from it all for a bit 😊
Due to the lack of storage and the absolute blessing of goods that are donated to us, we have made a major decision!! In future, all goods that we are not able to use for our homes, will be put onto an online shop to sell. This would enable us to use the money from these sales towards the day-to-day running of our homes. So, dear People, rest assured – whether you assist us in finance or goods, it will ALL be used to the ultimate good of our cause!!
Let’s do the birthdays quickly:
Our Giffie, who recently got his driver’s licence is turning 19 on the 18th November, as well as Alan, our local busy bee, who is turning 72 on the same day and just never stops working!! 😊 Kingston will be 17 on the 7th, and staff child David will be 16 on the 14th. Our precious Debbie at Camelia House is 67 on the 10th and that’s it!!
Special thanks to our precious donor who provides birthday gifts every month!!!!
Jabu, our second child doing his matric and whom we are SO proud of!! Is studying hard for his matric. He actually got a certificate for working hard and improving in all areas!! Prayers going out to him for his matric exams!!
All our kids are now studying hard for their year end exams!!
The girls at David House had another wellness day at St. Mary’s learning self-defense, and general tips on building character. Much as the boys have from Character Company 😊
They enjoyed 2 pop-up play dates during the school holidays which they absolutely loved!!
Our caregiver, Isobel went to Malawi to visit with her mother and introduce her daughter to the granny. Due to problems within this country, they have been unable to return for more than 3 months now and have to wait for their passports to be printed in India!! Isobel is Desmond’s (our McGyver) wife, and him and their son, Daniel is missing them more that I can even explain!!
We wanted to treat the elderly to a visit at Johannesburg Zoo as they allow free entry for the elderly. Unfortunately, all our PDP drivers had previous arrangements to honour.
Other than that, no news is good news on the homes for the elderly 😊! And I know the following pic is in Afrikaans, and huge apologies to those that do not understand!! But it is SO beautiful, I just had to share as it brings so many of our elderly mothers at Camelia House to mind.
I heard on the news the other night that millions of rands of food is wasted in South Africa!! WOW!! This just proves to me what an enormous blessing it is that we can share our food with other organizations as far as Boksburg and Kempton Park. We praise God for occasional bounties!!!
We are looking forward to hearing from you all to ensure that our children and elderly have a Christmas to remember, whether it be a visit (which they LOVE), a gift or a financial donation to make their holidays special too!!
